Lawrence Mehren – President, Chief Executive Officer and Director
Lawrence Mehren has served as the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of the Company since June 2012. Mr. Mehren served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ventana Medical Systems, Inc. from 2007 until 2008 and as Head of Global Business from 2008 until 2011. Previously, he was Managing Director, Partner and head of P&M Corporate Finance’s life sciences practice. Prior to his tenure at P&M, Mr. Mehren worked in management positions with Gale Group, a division of The Thomson Corporation, as well as with Merrill Lynch. Mr. Mehren holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Steve Reichling – Chief Financial Officer
Steve Reichling has served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Company since September 2012. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Reichling served as general manager of Spring Bioscience Corp., a R&D and research products subsidiary of Roche Diagnostics. From January 2003 to December 2009, Mr. Reichling held various finance, accounting and operations leadership roles at Roche Diagnostics and Ventana Medical Systems, Inc., including Director of Finance and Operations, Manager of Business Development Finance, and head of Internal Audit and Sarbanes Oxley Compliance. From October 2002 to January 2003, Mr. Reichling was an auditor at Ernst & Young LLP. Mr. Reichling received his B.A. in accounting and entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Kurt Reinhardt – Head of Operations
Kurt Reinhardt has served as the Head of Operations of the Company since September 2012. Mr. Reinhardt served in a variety of roles for Ventana Medical Systems, from 1991 to 2012, including establishing the initial Manufacturing and Quality Systems, Program Management, and Reliability Engineering. Prior to that, Mr. Reinhardt worked at Rockwell International on the Space Shuttle and Advanced Space Propulsion Programs, and worked as an engineer at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard on fast attack submarines. Mr. Reinhardt holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona and an M.S. in Industrial Engineering with an emphasis in applied statistics from California State University.
Steve Metzger – Head of Discovery
Steve Metzger has been the Head of Discovery of the Company since September 2012. Mr. Metzger served as Research and Development Manager at the company since December 2007, and as Senior Scientist from 2001 to 2007. Previously, he was responsible for the Protein and DNA Sequencing Core Lab at Heska Corporation, Fort Collins, CO, and coordinated the integration of assay methods, software, and optical microscopy instrumentation for the force amplified biosensor program at the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, D.C. Mr. Metzger is an ACS accredited chemist with a B.A. in Chemistry from The Colorado College.
Andrew Ghusson – Head of Product Development
Andrew Ghusson has served as the Head of Product Development of the Company since October 2012. Prior to his current position, Mr. Ghusson was with Ventana Medical Systems, Inc. for 12 years where he most recently served as the Vice President of Platform Development. Mr. Ghusson has been in the medical diagnostics product development field for more than 20 years, where he previously worked in leadership positions at Nova BioMedical and Becton Dickinson. Mr. Ghusson holds a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Pete Bantock – Chief Commercial Officer
Pete Bantock has served as the Chief Commercial Officer of the Company since July 2013. Prior to his current position, Mr. Bantock served as Senior Vice President, North American Commercial Operations for Ventana Medical Systems, Inc. Mr. Bantock has held a variety of commercial positions in the medical diagnostics and pharmaceutical industries over the past 20 years including leadership roles at Spring Bioscience and Abbott Diagnostics Division. Mr. Bantock holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Rhodes University, South Africa.
Maureen Mende – Head of Regulatory
Maureen Mende has served as the Head of Regulatory of the Company since August 2013. From 2008 to 2013 Ms. Mende provided regulatory consulting for several IVD and pharmaceutical companies as Senior Director at Myraqa, Inc. where she specialized in regulatory strategy and support for PreSubmissions, PMAs, 510(k)s, Companion Diagnostics and EU technical files. She was Director of Regulatory Affairs at Affymetrix, Director of Regulatory and Quality at Dyamics, and spent 15 years with Dade Behring, Inc. managing the global product registration for the MicroScan product line. Ms. Mende is RAC certified and holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from Aurora University, and an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University.
Ben Turng – Head of Assay Development
Ben Turng has served as the Head of Assay Development of the Company since August 2013. Prior to his current position, Dr. Turng was with Becton Dickinson Diagnostic Systems for 16 years where he most recently served as the Research and Development Director of Identification and Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing Platform Development. Dr. Turng’s experience in the in vitro diagnostics product development field exceeds 18 years and he holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Maryland and an M.B.A. from Loyola University.
Beth Lingenfelter – Head of Clinical and Scientific Affairs
Beth Lingenfelter joined Accelerate Diagnostics as the Head of Clinical and Scientific Affairs in November of 2014. Prior to joining the company, Ms. Lingenfelter was Vice President of Regulated Products and Clinical Affairs at BioFire Diagnostics, a molecular diagnostics company. During her tenure at BioFire, (2001 to 2014) she founded the Quality Department, Clinical Affairs and Regulatory Affairs. From 1996 to 2001, Ms. Lingenfelter was the Director of Quality Assurance at Myriad Genetic Laboratories. From 1992 to 1996 she was on the faculty of Medical Laboratory Science Program at the University Of Utah School of Medicine. Ms. Lingenfelter holds a M.S. in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Utah.
Dr. Irene Hannet – Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Irene Hannet has served as the Chief Medical Officer of the Company since June of 2014. Prior to her current position, Dr. Hannet served in a variety of medical roles for Becton Dickinson, from 1990 to 2013, including 12 years with Becton Dickinson’s Diagnostic Systems where she led the Medical and Scientific Affairs Department for the EMEA region. In addition, Dr. Hannet worked with Bristol Meyers Squib and as a Practicing Physician in Belgium. Dr. Hannet holds a M.D. degree from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium and a M.P.H. from the University of Liverpool, UK.
