Gel Electrofiltration

Gel Electrofiltration or GEF is a technology designed by Accelerate to automatically clean samples prior to testing, helping eliminate the time-consuming process of subculturing to obtain isolates. The technology works using electrochemistry and a proprietary gel formulation that allows interfering substances like salts, antimicrobial agents, extracellular debris, proteins, and other small ions to enter the gel, while leaving bacterial and fungal cells on the surface. This filter-like process enables sample cleaning, extraction, and concentration of viable microbial cells directly from a variety of sample types.
